Why did You Bald and I didn’t

Men destined to suffer from baldness more than women. But that does not mean all men will suffer from baldness. In fact, there is a bald man and another man is not bald. So, what causes baldness in human hair?
In general, the baldness is caused by three things:
First, genetic factors
Second, the presence of excessive male hormones
Third, aging.

The presence of hormonal factors in men can explain why baldness is often found in men. This is due to the presence of androgen excess. Androgen or testosterone is found both in men and women. However, the concentration of androgen in men is much greater than in women. Androgen will turn into DHT (dihydro-testosterone). DHT is derived from the metabolism of testosterone / androgen with the help of the enzyme 5 alpha reductase.

DHT works by blocking the way protein and vitamins and minerals to the hair follicles. This means the hair follicles do not get the intake of food to sustain life. Finally, the hair follicles die of starvation. Thus, hair loss and baldness will occur.

Although naturally, the hair can regenerate itself, but the presence of DHT will slow down the hair regeneration. The new hair growth won’t  exceed the hair fall. In other words, the growth phase (anagen) is shorter than the resting phase (telogen).

DHT also causes hair to become thin and smooth. This process is known as a miniaturization process that will eventually lead to hair fall.

As a solution to hair loss and baldness, current hair care products present to block the synthesis of DHT.
